Check out Fuel Choices for Advanced Vehicles to find out about advancements in the internal combustion engine, cleaner-burning and alternative fuels, improved emissions control devices, and new powertrain technologies such as hybrids. Fuel Choices for Advanced Vehicles covers past successes and the progress and potential of future fuels and vehicles, and offers dialog on evolving technologies such as hydrogen-powered fuel cells.

Check out Energy Efficient Homes Initiative to learn howAPI is working in collaboration with Rebuilding Together, the nation’s largest volunteer home rehabilitation organization aimed at helping increase energy efficiency in low-incomes homes. API is the national sponsor of the Rebuilding Together Energy Efficient Homes Initiative that will increase energy efficiency in nearly 10,000 low-income homes Rebuilding Together plans to revitalize next year. By making these homes more energy efficient, low-income homeowners will be able to save money by reducing energy usage, and have the materials and information to be able to use energy wisely into the future.
Requirement 5a asks you to explain how energy conservation would reduce pollution.
Recycling is one way to reduce pollution and save energy at the same time. In Recycling Saves Energy and Protects the Environment learn about ways the oil and natural gas industry recycles and how you can protect the environment by recycling your used oil.

As a Boy Scout, you can do your part for environmental conservation too! The Order of the Arrow is launching a national conservation project, Arrow Corps Five, of the Boy Scouts of America in partnership with the US Forest Service. It will mobilize 5,000 Arrowmen (Boy Scouts and Scout leaders) total to complete week-long conservation projects in five different National Forest locations.
